Every morning, she awakes and
Puts on her mask.
She puts on nice clothes,
Makeup,
A smile, and gets into her
Nice car, and drives away.
People tell her she’s pretty
Or beautiful quite often.
She smiles and says, “Thank you.”
Even her friends talk about
How gorgeous she is, and how they
Always see guys looking her way.
She just laughs it off.
At the end of the day,
She goes home and takes off her mask.
She removes the makeup,
Puts on a t-shirt and sweats,
And her smile becomes a frown.
She thinks about the compliments
She’s gotten today.
On the outside she seemed to
Be confident and secure;
But she was really self-conscience
And thinking “Yeah, right. I’m not pretty.”
She stares in the mirror,
Remembering how she used to
Be an insecure girl.
Now, she smiles and she knows
God created her beautifully.
