I’ve discovered something about myself: I struggle with being impatient and anxious. During school hours, I find myself thinking about doing other things such as, getting online or my iPod, or playing my favorite game, Animal Crossing:Wild World. I find myself rushing my brothers to get our group activities done, or asking my mom if I can do the group activity…by myself!!! lol!
Are you impatient too? I know how you feel. However, we should work on being patient first for God, for ourselves, and others. When you find yourself rushing through one thing to get to another, calm yourself down and quote the scripture “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to Him.” (Phil 4:6), and tell yourself “I’m going to be patient, slow down, and wait.” Or you can say to God “Okay, Lord, I really don’t want to do this. (Name) is being really slow. I just want to stop and do something else! But, thank you for giving me patience to wait on (name), and finish this.”
This isn’t going to be easy, trust me. But “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.” (Phil 4:13) We just have to take it one day at a time.
When you get up in the morning to have your time with God, instead of praying “Lord, I thank you for giving me patience for the rest of my life.”, pray “Lord, thank you for giving me patience for today.”
